The mountain gorilla is classified as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. There are only two places to see the world’s remaining mountain gorillas: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda and the Virunga Mountains, which straddle the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and contain approximately 480 gorillas.
